Despite the rain this year, the Federation Summer Holiday Activity Week was hailed a success by all involved. With record attendance from children across the Federation who eagerly arrived every morning ready to join in the fun.
Hosted by Knights Enham Junior School, children from Knights Enham, Endeavour and Roman Way Schools spent the week taking part in a feast of sports and arts and crafts, co-ordinated by Lions in the Community. Children were able to try their hand at at football, rounders, hockey, dodgeball, tennis, cricket, and explore their creative genius through numerous different art activities, which included midget gem and cocktail stick modeling, mosaic tile making and alien biscuit icing! To add to the fun packed week there was also a “guest” activity on each day such as; bush craft, Mathilda themed drama and dance workshop, archery and various inflatables including a gladiator dual.
The week was fully funded by Aster Communities and Simply Health, therefore making this a free of charge treat for our Federation families. Many of whom already asking about when the next one will take place!
Cathy Devereux of Lions in the Community and Federation Staff; Mrs Hampton and Mrs Smith would like to thank all parents and families for ensuring children turned up each day, on time and with suitable clothing and lunches.
“The week gave the children a fantastic opportunity to try their hand at activities that otherwise they may not have had the chance to do; for example roasting marsh mallows over an open fire, firing an arrow and being a Gladiator” – Mrs Hampton
“It always amazes me that during the activity weeks, children from across the Federation really unite, build great friendships and put their heart and soul into having some summer fun. It is a joy to be part of this week” – Mrs Smith
