Physical Development

Physical development is one of the seven areas of the early years foundation stage and is used to develop a child's movement, handling of objects, understanding of their own body and health and levels of self-care. Physical development focuses on gross motor skills, supporting the children's core muscles to develop their strength to become a super strong writer and resilient within all aspects of the classroom. 

 

Gross Motor Skills Activities

  • Den building - using various materials such as: cardboard boxes, wooden blocks, materials etc. To support strength and careful handling of materials.
  • Climbing and risky play.
  • Using bikes, trikes or scooters.
  • Dancing and creating patterns using their bodies. Can you stamp, clap and jump?
  • Skipping, jumping, hopping and running.
  • Balancing - Yoga.

 

 

 

Cosmic Kids Yoga Adventure

Cosmic Kids Yoga have a variety of different yoga activities for the children to follow. The videos tell a story alongside the yoga movements. There are a huge variety of different videos, there are stories for everyone! Ranging in different lengths.
