Thrive

Hello,

This academic year, Roman Way School has introduced a half-termly Thrive focus, which I launched at one of our first whole-school assemblies.

Spring 1 Thrive Focus: Allyship and Positive Interactions

We want our children to understand that being an ally is like being a good friend. Anyone can be an ally to someone who may be experiencing a negative interaction. This includes:

  • Checking in with someone who looks upset and asking if they are okay
  • Speaking up if you know something is wrong — if you know something, say something

  • Challenging negative behaviour safely and reporting it to a trusted adult who can help.

This also links to the importance of positive interactions, helping children understand how their words and actions can affect others and the difference they can make in creating a kind and supportive school community.

By focusing on allyship and positive interactions, we aim to promote respectful behaviour, strong relationships, and emotional wellbeing across the school.

Thank you,
Mrs Franklin
