This half term, we have been learning about Ancient Egyptians in History. So far, we have been enjoying investigating Mummification and creating posters about the River Nile, using the I-Pads to research independently. Our Science topic is Forces and we are building upon our prior learning of Push and Pull from KS1.
In Maths, we have been learning new and wonderful things about Fractions - using cake to demonstrate the "Bar Model" - which went down well!
Our book in English is "Ahmed's Secret," based in modern Egypt, and we have been focusing on sentence structure and punctuation. We will be moving onto writing newspaper articles and reports about the Ancient Egyptians.
Our Forest School dates are Friday 6th November, Tuesday 21st November and Monday 4th December. We will be going to Harmony Woods on Wednesday 22nd November to plant the tree saplings we have been growing at school since last year. Please bring wellies and waterproofs.
Please continue reading daily with your child, practising times tables and weekly spellings, as well as completing the weekly Reading comprehension and Maths questions which are sent home in their yellow homework books. We go through the Spellings and homework on a Wednesday so please ensure your child comes to school with their book. Also, please remember to bring in a shoe box for our Egyptian pyramid!
