Meet the Governors

Tanya Hampton - Co-Opted Governor and Chair of Governors

I have many years experience in education and facilities. Roman Way is my local Primary School and I want to do all I can to ensure it offers the children in our community the very best education, which is not just focused on academic success but also supports and develops the children’s emotional and social skills. I have been a Governor for many years and thoroughly enjoy working with the experienced and professional staff at the school, who have the children’s best interest at the heart of all they do.

Sarah Howlett - Parent Governor and Vice Chair of Governors

I am a mum to three children attending the school. Prior to covid, I was manager in a small Andover nursery before I took the leap to becoming an author. My interests are special educational needs and early years (YR) I can be found outside the school most afternoons at pick up time, giving out high fives!

Dr Rounaq Nayak - Co-opted Governor

I am an academic (human geographer) at Bournemouth University with an interest in understanding how lived experiences experts can help influence social justice policies. I have been a School Governor since 2020 and have been a governor at Roman Way since 2022. Along with the rest of the team, I want to help Roman Way ensure it offers children the very best chances to develop and grow into well-rounded individuals. I have lived in Andover since 2022 and have 2 children. You may have seen me walking my black German Shepherd and Labrador at various points along Andover.

Sarah Jones - Headteacher

Olubunmi Onianwa - Parent Governor

I am a Biomedical Scientist ( just one of those people that use people's specimen to find diagnosis and for monitoring treatment effectiveness) I believe you've heard of such people before. I have BSc and MSc in this discipline both qualifications were obtain in the Northwest of England. I have 2 kids who attend Roman Way. My mission as a governor is to give positive energy and contribute to achievement of the goal of the school and ensure the school have best resources, knowledge and staff to bring out the best in the children. 

Pip Abbott - Staff Governor

Richard McGuire - Co-opted Governor

I have volunterred to be a Governor to give something back to my local community. As a parent I understand the value of a good education and want to ensure all children attending Roman Way get the very best experience possible. I am a martial arts teacher and security specialist, with experience in risk assessments. I hope that my skills and knowledge will assist the school to make informed decisions and always strive to be the best it can be.

Sarah Nayak - Local Authority Governor

As someone who has worked with children for the last 16 years, my commitment to fostering children's education and wellbeing is at the forefront of my role. With a background in psychology and child development, I bring a deep understanding of the cognitive and emotional aspects that shape a child's learning journey. My professional experience as a swimming teacher has equipped me with valuable insights into the diverse needs and potentials of young learners. This unique combination of academic knowledge and practical experience allows me to contribute effectively to educational policies and strategies. I am driven by a genuine passion for creating an enriching and supportive learning environment where every child can thrive. In my capacity as a school governor, I am committed to using my skills to ensure that the institution continuously evolves to meet the ever-changing needs of its students, fostering a positive and holistic approach to education.

John Gajdus - Co-opted Governor

I am an Army Officer with ten years of experience in personnel management and leadership. I have experience in planning and assurance. My current role is in the Diversity and Inclusion department of Army Headquarters, I hope to bring the same approach and thinking to the Governor role. I am keen to assist and support my son’s school. Having a positive impact on children’s education is always a worthy cause and I would like to help if I can.

Rohit Rai - Co-opted Governor

I am a parent of a child at Roman Way school. Before moving to this country I used to work as a social worker and am very keen to use my previous skills to support the school, ensuring the pupils are getting the best experience and education possible.I also want to develop my personal skills and engage in something new and support my local community. I want to gain some new experiences in life and I know the Governor role will give me lots of opportunities to do this.
