The year R and year 1 Nativity performance will be at 9:30 on Tuesday 12th December in the school hall.

Letters have been sent out with the children (sent out 22.11.17) informing parents about parts, outfits and tickets. Due to the size of our school hall, we are limited to two tickets per child.

Our Nativity rehearsals are going brilliantly! The children know the songs and actions really well and are enjoying watching and supporting the year 1 children whilst they say their lines on stage.

We are all looking forward to sharing the children's Nativity with you!

Roma's topics may vary slightly throughout the year, depending on the children's interests at the time.

So far this year, we have focussed on 'all about me', 'fairy tales and stories', ' autumn' and 'woodland animals'.

We are currently continuing our work on 'autumn' and 'woodland animals' and linking these with the story of The Gruffalo.

Forest School

Roma class have 3 forest school sessions this half term.

Thursday 16th November

Thursday 23rd November

Wednesday 13th December

Roma's session on Thursday 14th has now been moved to Wednesday 13th so that it is not on the same day as the Christmas fayre.

Roma Class loved their first forest school session, we had great fun exploring the field and the trail in the trees! We also had a go at making leaf crowns, clay creatures and homes for woodland animals.

In Class

Last week, all of our activities and games revolved around the story 'Peter Pan'. We had a great week and particularly enjoyed turning our role play area into the lost boys hide out.

This week, we have turned our role play area into a castle and have also made a small world castle area. We have been reading fairy tales and thinking about the characters in the stories. We have also worked together to create a huge dragon which we are going to put up in our classroom. (03.10.17)

Roma enjoyed finishing our work on fairy tales before half term and we had loads of fun on our fairy tale day!

This week, our focus has been fireworks, we made some beautiful firework and bonfire art and even had a go at writing some words to describe fireworks. At the end of the week, we had a big discussion about staying safe when watching fireworks. (03.11.17)

Roma have had great fun learning about autumn and the changes going on at this time of year. We enjoyed our autumn walk around school and took some lovely photos of autumn leaves. We then read the Percy the Park Keeper story 'After the Storm' and had a go at designing new homes for Percy's animal friends. We also red other stories with woodland animals in and painted some beautiful fox, hedgehog, badger, rabbit and squirrel pictures. We are now linking our learning of autumn and woodland animals to one of our favourite stories, The Gruffalo. (22.11.17)

Roma had so much fun learning about The Gruffalo, Stick Man and The Gruffalo's Child. We acted out the stories using our puppets and used story stones to tell the story as well. The children drew some beautiful pictures of the Gruffalo and labeled them brilliantly. At the moment, we are spending lots of time with year 1 in the hall practising our Nativity, all of the children are doing so well. We are also practising our number ordering whilst making advent calendars. (05.12.17)

Roma Class have just finished learning our phase 2 sounds and tricky words. We are now going to spend some time recapping the phase 2 sounds and practising blending sounds together to read and write simple words.

When we learn a new sound, we learn the action that goes with it as well. See if your child can show you the actions that go with our sounds.

We have now learnt all of the phase 2 sounds
