Year 4 - Milano

Year 4-Milano

In Maths, this term, we are concentrating on Number and Place Value and we are practicing our times tables most days in class. The children have enjoyed making their own numbers and finding out how they are made up.

In English we have been looking at a story titled Beowulf and the children have been writing amazing descriptions of some of the events in the book.

The children are really looking forward to Forest School this week and making fires!!!

In Science we are looking at The Digestive System and what happens to the food we eat.

The children have all settled into their new class really well and are enjoying being Year 4 children.

 Spring Term

We have been working really hard this term in Milano Class. The children have worked with enthusiasm and the work produced has been amazing.

In English we have been looking at a few different books including Varjak Paw, Noah Barleywater and more recently the works of William Shakespeare. The children performed a short production of Macbeth to their parallel year 4 class, Pompeii. I think we have a few budding actors in the making!

The spelling homework, sent home each week, is having a really positive impact in our English lessons. Please keep up the good work at home, it is making a difference!

In Maths we have covered fractions and decimals this term and we are now looking at 2-D shapes and symmetry. We have a five minute ‘times tables’ challenge most days which is enabling the children to recall them in our Maths lessons.

In Science we have been exploring ‘ States of Matter’ and the children have been enjoying the very messy experiments to determine what is a solid, gas or liquid.

We now have a double P.E. Lesson on Monday afternoons. The children need their indoor and outdoor kit please. We have been learning hockey skills this term.

Thank you for your continued support and if you have any concerns please contact me or just pop in at the end of the day.
