We have had an exciting visitor to our class this week and it was not the Ofsted Inspector! ( although that was exciting too!)' The Giant' from Jack and the Beanstalk decided to send us a letter with a very special challenge for us. He asked us to measure his footprints, all the children were brilliant at comparing the length of objects to the size of the Giant's footprints.
So far this term we have been working hard to write some fantastic recounts of our trip to Anton Lakes. The children have been learning how to use time adverbials, adjectives and conjunctions to make their writing really exciting. Please come back soon to see some fantastic examples of our work.
In maths we have been finding halves and quarters of shapes as well as learning how to share different amounts of objects.
This week we launched our Jump rope for Heart campaign. The children will be learning a range of skipping skills in order to prepare for our Jumpathon. We hope to raise lots of money for the British Heart Foundation.
Year 1 have been working really hard to include lots of fabulous adjectives in their superhero stories that we decided to share our writing with the children in Year 2. We really enjoyed our afternoon and the children were very proud of the writing they had produced.
Pictures from our afternoon can be found here.

Welcome to Year 1!
The Class Teacher in Verona this year is Miss Tucker and the Teaching Assistant is Mrs Ma. We are also very lucky to have Mrs Dixon help us from time to time as well.
Our topic this term is 'All About Me.' This topic focusses on the anatomy of animals and humans, exploring the five senses and discussions on how to stay fit and healthy.
To launch our topic we will be having a superhero day. This exciting day will give the children the opportunity to take part in a superhero obstacle course as well as the chance to try a superhero breakfast. This is a fun and engaging learning opportunity that links nicely to all aspects of our exciting curriculum.
Our indoor P.E this term will be gymnastics and our outdoor P.E will be athletics. Please ensure your child has their P.E kits in school all week in case we have to change the day due to the weather.
We are very excited about this term and are looking forward to embarking on each child’s learning journey with them.
Anything you need to ask please don't hesitate to come and see us.
