Welcome to the Year 1 class page!

We hope you enjoy looking through our  page and seeing all the exciting learning we do in Year 1 .

The teacher in Year 1 is  Miss Tucker and the classroom assistant is Ms Morgan.

We have been busy making decorations ready to sell at our Christmas Fayre.

Verona Class have worked really hard to fill their marble jar with marbles. As their reward the children chose to have a class pyjama party.  All the children had a wonderful time and it was very relaxing to be able to come to school in our pyjamas!

The children have been telling the time to the hour and using vocabulary such as morning, afternoon and evening to describe their daily routines.

We have been learning all about toys from the past. The children made some super peg dolls and then wrote a set of instructions on how to make them to share with the children in Year 2.

As part of our Guided Reading sessions we have been reading the fantastic story Traction Man by the author Mini Grey. The children have really enjoyed this English unit and they have written some fantastic adventure stories with Traction man as the star.

In Forest School the children have been making leaf crowns. Don't they look great!

We have been making 2D and 3D shapes out of spaghetti and play dough. The children have really enjoyed learning about the different shapes and their properties. We even went on a shape hunt around school and found lots of interesting shapes.

The children have been sharing objects equally into two groups. The children have loved using our class counting bears.

In Science the children have been learning all about animals including humans. They have been identifying common animals that are carnivores, herbivores and omnivores. They have also been learning about the 5 senses and how they help animals and humans survive.  As part of a science experiment the children used paper to camouflage teddies so that they were hidden from the Teddy Monster who had invaded the school grounds.

The children have been busy in gymnastics learning some of the basic gymnastics shapes, straddle, tuck and pike.

The children were also learning how to balance on different parts of their body.
