Welcome to Year Six Sicily's Class Page.
Autumn Term Two.
How is it Autumn Term Two already? Year Six is flying by!
Our project for this half term is:
Andover or the Canadian Wilderness; which biome would you choose?
Our supporting text in English is Hatchet by Gary Paulsen - a very exciting story of a teenager who becomes stranded in the Canadian Wilderness. We will be writing diary entries, descriptions, newspaper articles and letters. In Maths we will be furthering our understanding of, and making links between, fractions, decimals and percentages - which form a huge part of the Year Six Maths curriculum. We will also be learning about multiple, factors and prime numbers . Our last Maths unit of the term will focus on 2D and 3D shapes, including identifying, calculating and measuring angles as well as work on co-ordinates. In Geography we will be learning about different biomes and in which one we live and which one our story is based in, before we compare them. We are lucky enough to be having Stow Sports on Wednesday afternoons this term in which we will be learning invasion games.
Thank you families for your continued support with daily reading and times tables practice.
Please remember to send your child in with a COAT EVERY DAY. We go out to play at break and lunch come rain or shine as it is really important for them to have a fresh air break between lessons.
On Wednesdays we will have PE with Stow Sports, We will be learning invasion games. The children need to come into school wearing their school PE kit for the day. We will have PE outside so please ensure that children have warm clothes, including layers that they can remove and add!
On Forest School days (which are every other Friday afternoon), the children need to come dressed for being outside - long sleeve top, long trousers/jogging bottoms, sensible footwear and a jacket.
